Bushcraft Apprentice Course
21 April @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
£70.00The course gives attendees an opportunity to further their knowledge, application and understanding of the basics of tool use, fire lighting, shelter building, natural cordage and water procurement. We introduce outdoor cooking, including creating a fire suitable for cooking over, making a simple dough & baking damper bread.
Fire lighting will involve participants gathering their own materials, using a ferro rod to create an ember & blowing it to flame. From there they will tend to fire, working through different levels of fuel until it is fully established.
For shelter building we look at various styles and their applications. As a group, participants are directed to construct a few basic fames, using bindings & lashings to secure them in place. This leads on to natural cordage, where participants will gather their own materials to process into usable cords.
This is a very hands-on course, after initial instruction participants will be expected to be able to start each task with minimal guidance, challenging themselves and finding solutions to problems. Assistance will however always be on hand if required.
Although we make bread, bringing lunch is recommended. Tea & coffee are provided.
