About the Event
Cordage is one of the key components required to thrive in an outdoor life. From shelter building, using lashings and bindings, to bows, belts, clothing, basketry and much more.
On this short course we'll show you how to sustainability harvest & process a number of materials, creating cordage that you can take home. In today's world cordage is largely taken for granted, with an immense range of materials to choose from but creating cord from natural materials is a challenging but rewarding activity. Learning which materials are better suited to which activity takes some time and experimentation.
Walking through our woodland we'll select the materials we wish to harvest, ensuring sustainability and maximum regrowth. We will discuss the processing techniques, working with a number of different materials through the various stages, until they're ready to be made into cordage. At this stage you can decide if you would like to make a specific item (bracelet, necklace, lanyard) or rather make a length of cord for future use.
Tea & coffee are provided (please bring a mug).
