Footpad Game Preparation Course

9 June @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Campfire Cooking
Footpad was a name given to a highwayman in the 16th-19th century, who operated on foot rather than horseback. In this course we learn some of the skills that would have been needed for a life on the road (although we won’t quite be going to the extent of teaching how to hijack a carriage!).
Living comfortably for long lengths of time outdoors requires a serious level of self-reliance and resourcefulness. This includes being able to maintain your own equipment, an understanding of native flora & fauna and being able to light a fire & cook in all weathers.
To make life somewhat easier, some items would be pre-prepared and carried on the person. We’ll look at methods for creating tinders from natural and man-made items which can be easily transported and taken away with you.
A key focus of this course is game preparation, you will be instructed in how to prepare one or more game animals for cooking.
Attendees will ideally have a good level of knowledge and application of core bushcraft skills, such as knife, saw and axe work and fire lighting.
If you’re preparing for a life of self-reliance, this is the course for you!
Lunch (venison/rabbit/pheasant/squirrel), tea & coffee included!
