School Bushcraft & Outdoor Learning in Devon
Give pupils a day outdoors that they will remember — practical bushcraft, teamwork and problem-solving delivered through hands-on activities in a genuine woodland setting.
Established in 2018. Devon and Cornwall Bushcraft has a 5.0 rating from 43 Google reviews (September 2026). We tailor each school session to the pupils, the school and the learning goals.

Learning happens differently outdoors
A bushcraft day gives pupils the chance to learn by doing. Instead of watching from the sidelines, they work together, solve practical problems, develop confidence and experience skills that are difficult to recreate in a classroom.
We build each school session around the age of the pupils, group size, available time and the outcomes you want from the day. That might mean a memorable end-of-term activity, curriculum enrichment, a transition or reward day, a wellbeing-focused experience or a programme designed around teamwork and personal development.
What pupils can experience
Fire & Campcraft
Age-appropriate fire-lighting, tinder and fuel preparation, campfire skills and practical outdoor organisation.
Shelter Building
Small teams plan, build and test shelters while developing communication, cooperation and problem-solving.
Tracking & Observation
Learn to notice tracks, signs and changes in the landscape, encouraging curiosity, patience and environmental awareness.
Woodland Skills
Natural cordage, woodland crafts and other practical activities can be incorporated where suitable for the group.
More than a day out
The strongest school sessions are enjoyable without losing their purpose. Activities can encourage communication, leadership, resilience, confidence, practical problem-solving and cooperation. Pupils get a genuine sense of achievement from completing tasks themselves and seeing what their group can accomplish outdoors.
Proven formats for schools
Schools already work with us in several different ways. Recent bookings have included a week-long programme for an SEN secondary school with around 10 students per day, eight two-hour sessions delivered to a primary school over eight weeks, and a full week of activities as part of a secondary school’s Personal Development Week.
Activity & Development Weeks
Ideal for Personal Development Weeks, enrichment programmes and themed activity weeks, with activities adapted across several days.
Progressive Programmes
Regular sessions over several weeks allow pupils to build skills, confidence and independence progressively rather than experiencing bushcraft only once.
One-off Activity Days
Half-day and full-day programmes can be designed around age, group size and the outcomes your school wants to achieve.

Safety, safeguarding & planning
Good outdoor learning depends on good preparation. Activities are selected and delivered with the age, ability and needs of the group in mind, with sensible instructor-to-participant arrangements and clear expectations agreed before the visit.
Our lead instruction is supported by an NCFE Bushcraft Leader qualification, Level 3 Outdoor First Aid training, Level 2 Safeguarding training and an enhanced DBS check. Risk assessments and practical arrangements can be discussed with the school in advance so staff know what to expect before the day.
A woodland venue that works for larger groups
Our Devon woodland facilities can accommodate large organised groups, with toilets, showers and parking available. We can facilitate groups of more than 100 participants and have parking for around 50 vehicles, giving us considerably more flexibility than a small-course venue.
Depending on the programme and suitability of the location, we can also discuss delivering activities at a school’s own site or another suitable venue.
How a school booking works
1. Tell us about the group
Send us the approximate pupil numbers, ages or year groups, preferred date and location.
2. Agree the objectives
Tell us whether the priority is enrichment, teamwork, wellbeing, outdoor skills or simply a memorable experience.
3. We build the programme
We suggest suitable activities, timings and practical arrangements and provide a bespoke quotation.
