Team building with a real objective
Bushcraft puts people into practical situations where communication, delegation, problem solving and cooperation happen naturally. Instead of another artificial conference-room exercise, your group has something tangible to work towards.
Communicate
Shared tasks encourage clear planning, listening and useful communication without forcing awkward team-building games.
Solve
Groups work through unfamiliar practical challenges where there is room for different ideas, roles and approaches.
Achieve
Lighting a fire, constructing shelter or completing a woodland challenge gives the team a visible shared result.

No previous bushcraft experience required. We explain the activities clearly and adapt the programme to the group.

A team day shaped around your people
We have delivered a team day for a group of 23 from Talkworks Devon. Tell us who is coming, what you want them to take away and whether the day should be collaborative, competitive or a relaxed reward. We then plan the activities and timing around that group. We can discuss events at our Devon woodland venue or a suitable location elsewhere.
Why choose bushcraft for a corporate away day?
Unlike a standard activity day, a bushcraft-based away day gives teams shared practical objectives: make fire, solve a shelter challenge, navigate, observe, plan and work safely together. The programme can be kept relaxed for a staff reward day or structured around communication, leadership and problem solving for teams that want a stronger development focus.
What a team day could look like
A full day could begin with a welcome and safety briefing, then small teams rotate through fire lighting, shelter building and navigation or woodland problem solving. After lunch, a timed challenge brings those skills together before a debrief around the fire. For an 18-person team, for example, we could split into smaller groups and award points across the challenges. This is an illustrative format; we agree the activities, pace and level of competition before quoting.
Frequently asked questions
Can you run a corporate event near Exeter?
Yes. We operate in Devon and can discuss suitable arrangements for teams based in Exeter, Newton Abbot, Torbay, Plymouth and elsewhere in the county, as well as Cornwall and other UK locations.
Can you tailor the day to our business objectives?
Yes. Tell us whether you want an informal staff reward, a memorable away day or activities focused more strongly on communication, leadership and team problem solving. We can then propose a suitable format.
Can axe throwing be included?
Where the venue, group and event format are suitable, axe throwing can be incorporated alongside other practical outdoor activities. See our axe throwing in Devon page for more information.
Do staff need outdoor experience?
No. Activities are instructor-led and can be designed for complete beginners. We discuss the group beforehand so the programme is appropriate for the people taking part.
