Survival Courses in Devon
Build capability before you need it.
Practical survival training in fire, shelter, campcraft, observation and decision-making — focused on useful principles rather than drama.
Survival starts with priorities and judgement
Good survival training is less about extreme scenarios and more about understanding what matters, preparing properly and making sensible decisions before small problems become larger ones. Our sessions give you practical skills you can rehearse in a controlled outdoor setting.
Fire
Prepare tinder, kindling and fuel, use common ignition methods and manage fire safely in changing conditions.
Shelter
Explore site selection, shelter principles and ways to reduce exposure using equipment and natural materials where appropriate.
Campcraft & Water
Understand camp organisation, equipment choices, water priorities and the value of planning before heading outdoors.
Observation
Read terrain more deliberately, notice changes and make better decisions with the information around you.
Bushcraft and survival overlap — but the emphasis is different
Bushcraft develops a broad set of practical woodland skills and a deeper relationship with living outdoors. Survival training places more emphasis on priorities, preparation and decision-making when circumstances become difficult. Our sessions often draw from both.
For beginners
You don’t need previous experience. We demonstrate techniques and give you time to practise rather than expecting you to keep up with an expert.
For outdoor enthusiasts
Use the training to identify gaps, practise fundamentals and make your existing outdoor knowledge more reliable.
For groups
Private and organised-group sessions can be shaped around the experience, aims and available time of the participants.
Our lead instructor holds an NCFE Bushcraft Leader qualification and Level 3 Outdoor First Aid training. You can also explore our broader bushcraft courses in Devon.
